Come and learn how to shoot with Large Format view cameras using our amazing Phase One digital scanning back. This seminar will use it’s instant feedback capabilities to explore the camera used by Ansel Adams, and Edward Weston for their timeless landscape images. This digital/film fusion seminar will show you why the view camera is still a relevant & valid camera for personal expression in a digital age.
Students will be introduced to:
The camera movements that make the view camera unique:
-Rise & Fall
Perspective Corrections with the view camera movements
Movements for controlling the plane of focus
- The Scheimpflug correction
Close-up photography & the bellows extension factor
Loading film holders
The different types of view cameras will introduced as well.
The 8X10 will be examined
Throughout the course The Phase One scanning back will be used to provide instant feedback & demonstrations of the shooting concepts.
About the Phase One back:
- provides a near full frame image of a 4X5 camera back
- 8400 X 6000 @ 16bit capture
- 288mb file at full resolution
- Depending upon the measuring criteria used it is a 56megapixel- 100megapixel equivalent (scanning backs are not directly equivalent in megapixel terms to fixed sensors)
